Between 27th March and 7th April, Andy Jones and Andy Corcoran completed the 2008 Marathon des Sables, an ultra marathon through the Sahara desert.
This year's event was 152 miles long, making it the longest ever in the race's 23 year history, and with temperatures topping 48 degrees, it was certainly challenging.
After months of endless training through the streets and parks of London (which included running back from Maidenhead) we flew out to the test ourselves against the heat and vast landscape of the Sahara desert.
Despite being two media monkeys and not having trained in anything hotter than a gym with a coat on, we both completed the run, dare I say it, with relative ease. A lot of this can be attributed to luck as our feet held up extremely well whilst many others suffered unimaginable pain in many cases with blisters forming on blisters.
It was an incredible experience though and we wanted to thank all those that supported us throughout the experience. Financially we smashed the fundraising target that we set ourselves and as such our charity The Evelina Appeal has been able to buy a new incubator and equipment for the Intensive Care Baby Unit at St Thomas's Hospital.
THANK YOU to all of you who donated - you made the whole experience so worthwhile as it made putting one foot in front of the other that much easier.
